Our Watermelon

Just wanted to show you all our prize-winning watermelon we grew in our garden. We were SO surprised that it was actually red inside, and it looked like a real watermelon, only smaller. And guess what, it tasted great! Blake really liked it, too. We have a couple more that we'll try soon.

Julianna takes a nap

I had to give Julianna some glory after doing a post on Blake! This was last week, before I started up my blog. She actually fell asleep at the bottom of the stairs. I had nothing to do with it! I noticed she got kind of still, and then saw that she was sleeping. And she slept there for a whole hour! When she woke up, she looked around a little bit, and sat right down on the couch like nothing had happened! So cute.

The Baby Gate Blues...

At about 8 months old, Blake figured out how to climb up the stairs. So since then I have tried many things to block it off. First, I used to push our big leather chair up against the stairs, but I got tired of doing it every day. Then one of my friends in the ward showed me how to put her baby gate on the stairs by wedging it with shoes! So I tried it, and it worked, for a while. I guess I didn't have it wedged very tight, and one day, Blake figured out how to pull the gate over by standing on the step and pulling the gate as he leaned backward. He has no fear! But now I think I have it in pretty tight again, so he can't go up! He still tries many times a day to get it off. And he gets really mad when Julianna climbs over and he can't go with her! So, here he is, trying to pull the gate, and now trying to climb it! And just for fun, a picture of Blake's teeth right now...he has the two bottom ones, but instead of getting his top middle teeth, he got one on the top that should be next to the middle ones. It looks like he's missing his two front teeth!

I saw this on a few of your blogs and I thought it would be fun to fill out. Don't we all love talking about ourselves, anyway?

Jobs I’ve Held (I'll start from the beginning)
1. Longs Drugs, as a cashier, at the young age of 16. And I drove my cool Ford Festiva to work.
2. Barnes & Noble, at the end of my senior year in high school until I went to BYU. I really liked working here, especially in the Cafe! Cindel knows how fun it is to make those hot drinks!
3.Rite Aid, after my freshman year at BYU. I learned how to develop pictures, which helped me get my next job...
4. BYU Bookstore, photo lab. Sophomore year at BYU. Probably the most fun job. I got to look at everyone's pictures from BYU! Then I worked in the general book department right after I got married. This was also fun. Callie knows how fun it is to work in the BYU Bookstore!
5. Editorial intern for FARMS. I worked with a former editing professor and for the first time got to see the inside world of publishing church books and journals.
6. Mother! Right after FARMS, I had Julianna, and I've been home ever since, except for editing that I do at home. Of course being a mom is the most important job and the most rewarding. And the most difficult, stressful, exhausting, it could go on and on. But mostly it's just great!

Movies I Can Watch Over and Over:
1. Forrest Gump
2. Fried Green Tomatoes--I watched it on Lifetime the other night!
3. Any Julia Roberts or Hugh Grant movie, like Notting Hill.

My Guilty Pleasures:
1. Any dessert or candy! You should all try 3 Musketeer's mint! So good!
2. Watching TV for way too long after the kids go to bed, and even staying up sometimes to watch Conan O-Brien. He makes the funniest facial expressions!
3. Just wasting time in general. Is this blog entry a waste of time? I hope it brightens someone's day!

Places I Have Lived (I don't think I know all of them!):
1. Livermore, CA. I was born here, but did I live here? I'm not sure.
2. Oakland, CA.
3. Hayward, CA.
4. Manteca, CA, in two different houses!
5.Phoenix, AZ, or Ahwatukee, as the area was known.
6. Irvine, CA.
7. Provo, UT
8. Corona, CA for two months!
9. Hemet, CA
10. San Jacinto, CA now.

Shows I Enjoy:
1. Dateline or 20/20.
2. The People's Court. Man, I'm just like Mom now!
3. Of course, American Idol!

What were likely the 1st things you thought when you saw your significant other for the first time?
1. He has a very strong testimony! (The first time I ever saw him in person was when he bore his testimony in our single's ward.)
2. He looks like a really nice guy! And he's from Tustin? Wow! What a small world.

Places I have been on vacation (other than the US)
1. I'm in the same boat as you, Rhonda. Never been outside the US! How sad...Well, someday it will happen.

Favorite Foods:
1.Dessert of any kind.
2. Mom's rolls.
3. Apples and peanut butter. I still have it every day.

Websites I Visit (almost) Daily:
1. Myspace, now that I have an account.
2. Blogger, now that I am blogging again.

Body Parts I Have Injured:
1. None, except a really big bruise when I was knocked off a sea doo (my dad was driving it and Callie was on it, too.) I also frequently get bruises and have no idea where they come from.

Nicknames I’ve been called:
1. Kerkie, that's what Callie calls me. Cliff, do you remember "Keriricicli"? Did I spell it right? When we put all our names together?
2. Kerabug, what Mom called me.

Now I Get to pick 4 other Blog buddies to do this! Tag your it!
1. Callie (did you do this yet?)
2. Cliff
3. Mom
4. It's your turn!
This took way too long! Ahh!

Mom and Dad's blog

Does anyone know what Mom and Dad's blogspot address is? I would like to see it, and then add it as a link so I have the whole family on here.

Alright, let's give this another try...

Well, after 9 long months, I've decided it's time to really try this blog thing. I just started myspace, and I'm liking it, so I thought, why not spend a little more time posting pictures here so everyone can see them. So, my apologies to anyone who was offended that I haven't been blogging. I really will try hard to post at least once a week, if not more. That means I'll have to lock Julianna and Blake in their room with their toys so I can get it done. Haha! I guess I mostly want to do it for Cliff! He's so far away and I thought he'd like to see how we are doing while he's gone. So, here's what's happened recently. Julianna will start preschool very soon--probably middle of October, I'm hoping. School is all she talks about since her evaluation. She is so ready to start school and really wants time to play with kids and not be with her boring mom. Now she's starting to fight with Blake, so I think she will love to be around kids her own age! She just keeps getting smarter and cuter, and will be 4 in December! Blake is 10 months old, and he's starting to reveal his personality, which is not angelic in any way. He now screams very loud when Julianna takes his toys, he tackles her on the ground (see picture below), he wants to do everything himself--he's just a rough and tough boy in every way. He likes to throw balls as far as he can, and then chase them around, and then throw, and the game goes on and on. He can wave and say "buh buh" (bye bye) and he learned how to do a high five. He's very healthy, and mostly happy if he's getting what he wants. Joel and I are doing well--he's busy teaching and in Young Men's still. His school year is going well for him so far. And I am just busy with the kids, migh start substitute teaching once a week. I'm still editing, a little, hoping for a better position to come along. Anyway, that's us right now! Enjoy the pictures.
